Job Position: Transport Controller

Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualification

 

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Qualifications in Stores and Inventory Management, Warehouse Management or Logistics Controlling Stores / Warehouse duties within a heavy engineering environment - minimum of 5 years’ experience
  • Computer literate - Word and Excel
  • Valid 3-ton forklift licence
  • Lifting Equipment; Welding Consumables, Cutting, Inserts, Tools
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Being able to work under pressure
  • Be able to work without supervision
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills

Key Performance Areas:

  • Warehouse outbound:

-          Ensure that all goods leaving the warehouse have the correctly processed documentation (signed requisition, signed purchase order / transfer order packing slip, signed GRN or non-chargeable delivery documents)

-          Ensure that all packaging and related materials are of an appropriate standard

-          Assist with the loading of goods and materials

-          Support all internal departments with issuing of stock / non-stock items, WIP job cage material and consignment stock (including satellite stores - Tool store, Welding store, paint store, Internal and mine stocks)

-          Report any queries to management before goods leave the warehouse

  • Transportation:

-          Ensure that packaging and crating adheres to specified requirements by relevant departments / instructions

-          Maintain a professional relationship with transport companies

-          Analyse costs and loads in order to achieve the most economic/ effective method of delivery

-          Ensure that company abides to laws / regulations surrounding transportation

-          Strong emphasis on meeting on-time delivery

-          Obtain quotes for national transportation via approved vendors

-          Facilitate / coordinate the loading and off loading of stock / equipment with internal logistics to meet transportation requirements

-          Supplier maintenance, ratings and audits customs / bonded warehousing

-          Ensure that all documentation related to transportation is accurate and completed as per procedure

-          Complete visual inspection reports for all items leaving

-          Ensure transportation photographic records are maintained as per procedure

-          Ensure that items leaving the premises adhere to QA standards and ensure the company abides to laws / regulations surrounding transportation

-          Attend planning meeting and record updates or unscheduled shipments and queries of work orders

  • Negotiating prices and terms with current and new suppliers:

-          Monitor supplier price increases, approach open market for comparative pricing when required

-          Negotiate most favourable service conditions and payment terms, always seek discounts

-          Ensure clear mutual understanding at all times

-          Achieve the best outcome for the company - obtain best price for product or service

-          Monitoring the consistent quality / service delivery of the supplier

-          Be able to recognise risks whilst engaging the supplier

-          Maintain professional, fair and ethical supplier negotiations at all times

-          Endeavour to maintain 30-day notice for price increases

-          Perform price benchmarking including CPI to ensure pricing is competitive

  • Safety, sanitation, security, housekeeping:

-          Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area

-          Assist in maintaining the security of the company

-          Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety

-          Comply with OHS standards

-          Report all deviations and defects to supervisor

-          Adhere to all safety instructions regarding clear walkways and obstructions

 

 

 

Job Position: Warehouse Manager / Chargehand (Equity)

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Matric + Qualified in the related field, Stores and Inventory Management, Warehousing Management or Logistics
  • Experience in controlling stores and warehouse, preferably within a heavy engineering environment
  • Valid 3 ton forklift licence
  • Experience: would be advantageous in the following:

-          Packaging methods and equipment

-          Transportation - trucks and loading techniques

-          Lifting equipment

-          Welding consumables

-          Cutting inserts

-          Tools

-          General consumables

-          Hazardous and flammable goods

-          Import and export

-          Supervisory experience added advantage

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Knowledge of applicable safety regulations

Key Performance Areas:

  • Read appropriate warehouse documentation to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed or shipped
  • Assist in conducting physical inventories and cycle counts
  • Responsible for operating the warehouse machinery in a safe manner
  • Supervise staff in the daily performance of duties in absence of a Supervisor
  • Ensure a smooth and complete work flow in the warehouse
  • Responsible for inventory accuracy
  • Control spare parts
  • Quality assurance - carry out all duties in accordance with QA procedures / departmental works instructions

Job Position: Reefer Channel Controller (Sea and Air Imports)

Salary: R15 000 to R18 000 per month

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Must be available to start immediately
  • Matric
  • Experience in sea and air imports

 

Key Performance Areas:

  • Receive documents from clients
  • Capture on clients status report
  • Update clients on status of shipments
  • Ensure all documentation received from client is correct or clearance and release
  • Liaise with service providers, hauliers, shipping lines etc
  • Register and upload shipments
  • Open shipment control file
  • Record shipment file on tracking sheet and keep updated as clearance process takes place
  • Generate CTO’s when required
  • Monitor shipments from customs
  • Arrange release with port health / State Vet etc
  • Arrange delivery of shipments
  • Check service providers charges, pass for payment and record disbursed amounts in shipment file
  • Check charges against rate profiles and pass creditors invoices for payment
  • Check line if storage / demurrage is suspected
  • Complete client costing sheet
  • Split clients documentation prior to sending through for costing
  • Prepare files and send files through for costing
