Qualifications / Requirements

  • Trade tested in Toolmaking (Tool Jig and Diemaker) essential
  • Minimum of 6 years manufacturing experience essential, preferably in automotive related environment
  • Knowledge of form tooling and component trimline development
  • Ability to recognize form, trim and pierce stage tooling problems and provide solutions
  • Ability to recognize progression tooling problems and provide solutions
  • Willing to work overtime if required (will work 2 shifts and during busy periods, possibly 3 shifts)
  • Must have clean and stable work record (no job hoppers will be considered)

Key Performance Areas:

  • Tooling and tooling maintenance:

-         Assembling , maintaining and improving  tooling with fine blank cutting clearances

-         Assembling , maintaining and improving form tooling

-         Assist the CNC machining and all areas when requested to

-         General tool repairs over all factory departments

-         Repairing of faulty and damaged tools as per production requirements and priorities as recommended by all manufacturing Cell Leaders

-         Standardizing of press tools for improved SMED

-         Upgrading of tools where improvements are identified

-         Standardizing tools for standardized presses up to 500 tons

-         Making of machine components for maintenance support

-         Maintain record of all tool repairs

-         Use of machine’s in Tool room (example:  lathe, milling machine, grinder)

-         Welder,Tryout presses.) TIG 7 ARC welding for cutting edges

-         Hydraulic and mechanical presses

-         Perform daily checks on tool room machines

-         Making of machine components for maintenance support.

  • Quality, scrap reduction, process improvements:

-         Proficiency in using micrometers, verniers, height gauges for tooling and component development

-         Actively participate in scrap and quality concerns analysis meetings and workshops, generating and implementing ideas and / or changes to processes and / or tooling to reduce internal and external scrap parts

-         Aligning focus as per above plans

-         Ensure that part quality standards are adhered to and sustained to ensure all products leaving site continuous to be marketed as premium products

-         Identify and implement process improvement, tooling improvements, material usage reduction, etc

  • Housekeeping and general:

-         Obey all HSE rules

-         Ensure, and keep the Tool room in a neat and safe condition at all times

-         Keep the new equipment in perfect working condition

-         Constructively participate in Kaizan (Team Continuous Improvement)

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Relevant Degree or Diploma
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in production management in automotive related environment
  • Previous paint line experience essential
  • An assertive and natural leader, with a stable work record (no job hoppers will be considered)
